Today was a day of running around. We went to the Post office (ok), next to the Library, then to Hancocks. After Hancocks we returned to the apartment for lunch and naps for two little ones. After naps (which were too short) we went to Hobby Lobby and Publics. We ended the day with one of Kristin's AMAZING dinners! And, to finish off the day, we put the kids to bed and watched a girl movie! All in all, a fun day!

Am I weird?

Is it weird for someone to invent their own word? Because I have!

Several years ago (I'm not sure exactly how long) this word popped out in my vocabulary and just seemed to stick! I'm not the only one who uses it either. Most of my family have also taken to using it! Though, obviously, I was the first!

So, you may be wondering... what is this strange word which I have invented? Well, here it is..... (lol... I spent about 5 min. trying to decide how to spell it!)

Schnikezoids! or Schnikes! for short.

definition... used in times of amazement, excitement and astonishment. Similar to WOW!, Man! and.... well, I think you get the picture! :)

So.... now that I have told you one of my deepest, darkest secrets.... :)
Have you or anyone you know (besides me) ever invented a word that stuck? If so, what was it? And, honestly, am I weird, strange, crazy and, well, 'unique' for coming up with my own word?

And, as I say to my siblings when they use my word around me...... It's My Word!!! :)

Hmmm..... a new thing for me! But, I guess it's good to try new things every once in a while..... right? So... here it goes!

Fall Favorites

1. Favorite smell? Fresh apple pie in the oven!

2. Favorite food? Moms sweet potato cass., corn cass. and Daniels strawberry pretzel salad!!!

3. Favorite color? Dark red and deep purple.

4. Favorite drink? Cold - Sparkling apple cider... Hot - Warm apple cider!

5. Favorite treat? Hmmm..... does spending time with family count? :)

6. Favorite place to go? Out in the middle of the woods or walking our street looking at the beautiful color in the leaves!!!

8. Favorite movie to watch? Hmmm.... the one movie we only watch in the fall is Martin Luther.

9. Favorite clothing to wear? Long, swishy skirts and 3/4 length shirts.

10. Favorite outdoor activity? Walking in the trees, throwing the Frisbee and enjoying Gods creation.

My Favorite Sea Creatures!

So.... someone mentioned the Monterey Bay Aquarium the other day and it made me remember our families trip there. And, after thinking about it for a while, I decided to do a short post about two of my favorite sea creatures.

As most of you know... I love horses! So, it shouldn't surprise you when I say that my #1 favorite sea animal is the Sea Horse!

The rolls of these little creatures are very interesting! It's fun to watch as they twirl their tails around seaweed or some other stationary object. The courtship process is also very intriguing! It is very similar to our "courtship" in that they swim side by side, hold "hands" (tails actually) and even dance together!

My #2 favorite is a cousin to the first. This would be the Sea Dragon.

Aside from being a cousin to the sea horse.... I love this little creature for its looks... which may sound strange. :) God has given this little animal an amazing camouflage! It looks just like a piece of seaweed floating in the water! When I saw the plaque for this little guy I was expecting this big, ugly, mean looking creature! At first I couldn't even see the real sea dragon even though it was right in front of me!

Both of these sea animals are proof that God is amazing!!!

Yes, I know I was suppose to do this earlier this week! But better late then never, right?

If you look closely the rocks look like a man sleeping on the ground (at least, to me). It has always made me think of the story about Jacob. The one were he sleeps on the ground with a rock for a pillow.

When we moved here, I noticed this pile of rocks... and from the first it reminded me of a certain Bible story. Can anyone (besides mom and Micah) guess which story? I'll post the answer in one week.

OK, so I knew that mushrooms came in various shades of brown, grey, black and white... but I never realized that they came in so many other colors!

I was out in our woods today with some of my brothers and couldn't help taking some pictures!

God is an AMAZING artist!!!!

Farewell to a Friend

Our pet and friend of the past ten years is gone. He was last seen on Sunday morning. We did what any caring owners would by calling the vet, humane society and putting up posters. We learned this afternoon that one of the families who live behind us found a dog, matching the description of Linux, in their yard. They think he was either hit by a car or caught by an animal. They buried him in their yard.

He will be sadly missed!

If y'all would remember us in your prayers in the next few days it would be much appreciated. Please remember the twins and Josiah especially, they seem to be taking it really hard!

So... my dad purchased my plane ticket today!!! I now have to try and wait three weeks and two days before I see my niece and nephew! Of course that shouldn't be too hard with all our family has going on between now and then. The biggest thing coming up is a costume ball which Micah (with help from me and others) will be teaching. That is this Friday and I am working long hours trying to get all of the costumes ready.

Speaking of which... I should probably try to get a little more done before it gets to much later. I'll try to remember to take and share pictures.

Last night, Joel and I were sitting in the family room talking. Linux (our dog) had been barking for a few minutes and we decided that Joel should go check it out. He came back in and told me to run and get my camera.

This is what we found.

Linux had him in the corner.

Look at those teeth!

He was rather vicious looking.

Joel tried to scare him away with a broom but it didn't work. If you listen real close to the video you can hear Linux growling at it.

EXPERIMENTS!!!!

Tonight, for dinner, I decided to use up some of the herbs and produce from our garden.

Some one told me that rosemary was good on chicken. So, I drizzled the chicken with olive oil, placed the rosemary on top, then sprinkled everything with a little salt and pepper.

About half of the squash was from our garden but all of it was organic!

All of the ocra came out of the garden tho one or two of them were slightly over done.

The broccoli was the only thing that didn't have something from the garden.

Unless you count the peaches that went into the peach cobbler (which hasn't been cooked yet in this picture).

The salad had some lettuce, green onion and tomatoes from the garden.

I also made sweet tea with fresh mint! That was one of the best cups of sweet tea I've ever had!

And...the finished product! It all turned out pretty well considering I didn't know what I was doing! :) Mom was a BIG help adding this ingredient and cutting up that! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP MOM!!!

And now to go eat that peach cobbler that almost ready!

Crafts with Denim!

My mom sent me this link and said I should blog about my birthday gifts that I received the past two years from my dearest friend. So, here is goes!

Last year, for my sixteenth birthday, my parents surprised me by flying my dear friend Elisabeth out. For my birthday she not only brought herself but she gave me a denim purse filled with very cute and thoughtful things. Among the things in the purse was a hand-made notepad to go in it!

This year, she and her younger sister Hannah (who is also one of my dearest friends) made me a notebook! They decorated and personalized it just for me!

Aren't they lovely? I have used the notepad much in the past year so it is not as pretty looking as it did but I still love it!

So... what do you think of my talented friend's talents???

Thank you, Elisabeth and Hannah, for your friendship and love! I hope I will be deserving of it someday!

Huntsville Space and Rocket Center

As I promised (though rather late), the Space and Rocket Center!

The day started with rides as mom didn't want to be out as it got hotter. The first ride we did was the Space Shot.

It was fun!! This is what the website says about it...

What does a rocket launch really feel like? Three, two, one, liftoff! Rocket 140ft straight up in 2.5 seconds. 4 G's of force on launch! 2 - 3 seconds of weightlessness out of your seat then a 1 G free fall!

We (Micah down to Josiah) ended up doing it a total of four different times!

We then walked around and saw different rockets, missiles, vehicles and landing reproductions.

We then did the G-force simulator. We found out later that it was pulling 3 negative G's. We (Micah down to the twins) did it a total of three times!!!

While we were doing that mom and Sarah found a ride for smaller people! Josiah later commented that it seemed a lot like a Tigger ride (as you will see, it was very bouncy!).

Sarah and the twins loved it as well! I lost count of how many time they did it.

We then met-up with dad and headed inside.

The first thin we found was the Mars Mission! The had a ride that was supposed to be a land rover kinda thing. I took three video's with it.

We then went to the Mars Mission Climbing Wall.

We then walked around looking at more displays and then returned to the rides.

Well, I think I've shared enough now. I'm almost positive that ya'll will be tired of seeing my tiny, little, unimportant posts and then the long, boring, unimportant posts. Oh, well. It means a lot to me that you made it all the way to the end!

There and Back - An Overnight Trip to Huntsville

My dad had a conference in Huntsville this week so, yesterday, we drove up and spent the last night with him. Yesterday we arrived, swam in the hotel pool and visited with two families we "know". One family was the cubbies leader for my second oldest brother (so none of us really knew who they were) and the other family went to our church in CA about nine years ago. Today we went to the Space and Rocket Center. I took lots of pictures but will have to wait till tomorrow to share them. Some of the highlights were the rides. The Space Shot, the G-force simulator, the 'Mars' climbing wall and Mars Mission ride.

And, as I said, I will post pictures tomorrow IF people who have seen the museum will comment and let me know what their favorite part was.

I Have a Secret!!!

I was given a secret and was told I had to wait for two days before I could tell anyone. Well, today is the third day and I can finely let it out!

I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT AGAIN!!!!!! My oldest brother's wife is about 6 wk. pregnant and estimates that she is due around the end of January or beginning of February. When this new little one is born I will have a 3 yr. old nephew (Isaiah), an almost 3 nephew (Patrick), and two 1 yr. nieces (Joanna and Trinity) plus this new little one!!!

I'm glad I know families that want to have lots of children! My second oldest brother said yesterday that I was a black-hole for babies. Babies go in and are rarely seen again. :) You know... he's right!

And now I can rest easy. I've let my secret out and must get back to work on my long list.

It was one of those birthdays were he was working all day at his new job. He had left early Wednesday and returned at one this morning.

At least he still plays with his younger siblings!

I get tired, at times, with all of the disagreements between Baptists, Presbyterians, and all of the other denominations. I know both Baptists and Presbyterians and I agree with different points from both denominations but I would be categorized as a Baptist. But, I have decided that when someone asks me which I am that, instead of saying that I'm a Baptist, I will say that I'm a Christian first and a Baptist second.

Please feel free to share your thoughts! I would love to hear what others think on this point.

Seven-Teen!

It's amazing how fast the years go as you get older! Yesterday was my seventeenth birthday. It was one of those Sunday's that you wish was slow and peaceful but it was rather fast and busy! With church (at our house) and a soccer tournament we didn't have much family time. But still, I got to spend half the day with my church friends/family and the other half with my real family! My camera is missing so no pictures. Sorry! Thank you to everyone who made my day special!

Baby Chancey!

Benjamin Harrison Davis Chancey was born yesterday afternoon, on his due date and AT HOME! I got a call from Mr. Chancey saying Mrs. Chancey's water had broken and could I come over. I didn't have an available vehicle so he said he'd come pick me up. Twenty minutes later we got a call from Mrs. Keen saying that the baby had been born. All in all, it will be a fun story to tell little Benjamin when he gets older.

He is 6 lb. 12 oz. and very cute.

Lindsay and I took them some food since the cafeteria closed at 6.

I have video's uploaded on blogspot, xanga , and now vimeo ! Well, I guess I could ask my nephews and nieces to stop being soooooo cute... then again maybe not. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to keep finding new places to upload!

School Project

My mom has assigned me a school project... here are some pictures.

This is how the project started out...a pile of fabric and trimings!

Then, it got cut into little pieces.

Slowly, we started putting together blocks.

The center block.

Mom designed this block.

Mom and I decided I would tie the quilt instead of hand quilting it. She wants it done in the next few weeks instead of in a few years!

This is most of the quilt top but it gives you the general idea of what it looks like.

And, last of all, mom took a few pictures of me working. Not the best picture of me but it's better than others!

I'll post a complete picture of the quilt after I finish the binding.

A Wonderful Wedding

This is about as close as I could get to the bride that day. Her dress was beautiful as were the flower girls (of which there were nine-teen) and the brides-maids.
The matron-of-honor was a very lovely and eight month pregnant Mrs. Chancey (whom most if not all my readers know.).

An Atheist and a Bear

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that evolution had created.

"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!", he said to himself. As he was walking along the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. When he turned to see what the cause was, he saw a 7-foot grizzly charging right towards him. He ran as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing, He ran even faster, crying in fear. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.

At that moment, the Atheist cried out "Oh my God!...." Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all of these years; teach others I don't exist; and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as Christian now, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian?" "Very well," said the voice.

The light went out. The river ran again. And the sounds of the forest resumed.

And then the bear dropped his right paw ..... brought both paws together...bowed his head and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful."

Life in the past Couple of Weeks

Well, in the time which has elapsed since my last post has been a wirl! Mom and Dad left my older brother and I to take care of our younger siblings for a whole week! We did fine keeping the house going, making sure people didn't kill each other and having company over (with permission from parents!).
After they got back, Dad had a buisness trip and was going to be gone a week. So, Mom decided it was a good time to make a few changes to some of the bedrooms. Last week we... bought paint for two bedrooms, striped the wallpaper border in the girls room and painted in the girl's and younger boy's room. This week we will be putting rooms back together and makeing quilts, of sorts, to go on the girl's beds. We still need to come up with a pattern and buy fabric. Along with the quilts we will be makeing vallances, windowseat cushions and pillows for the room. All in all my Mom intends to keep herself and me very busy! I'll post pictures of the before and after in the girls room soon.

Searching For Wisdom #3

Well, another one of those thoughtful moments...

Proverbs 24:29 says, 'Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his works.'

I feel this means that we are not to render evil for evil (and if that's not obvious to everyone than someone must be seeing things). The natural reaction for most people when someone else does something wrong to them is to start thinking about what they can do back. It's hard for us to get over natural tendency's on our own. So, you may say, how do we get over these since it's so hard on our own? Well, I'll tell you. GOD!!! There is no other way. You can't do anything without his help. He made everything and holds all things together. If you don't get his help you'll never get over those natural tendency's that are causing problems. We need to train ourselves so that our natural tendency's, instead of being mean back, are kindness and prayer for the person who wronged us. Yes, it's hard. None of us are perfect and it's hard to get to the point were we can change our instant feelings and reactions. When we mess up it should make us all the more eager to work harder on changing ourselves. We can ask for help, not only from God, but friends as well. Our friends can help by being there for you. They can pray for you, set you an example and listening to you when you need them to.

Searching For Wisdom #2

Today, during Wisdom Search, another verse jumped out at me.

Psalm 142:4 which says, 'I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.'

What came to my mind when I read this were the young women who, unwisely, sleeps with or even just lives with a man and then the man leaves her. She may be pregnant or not. Her family may have rejected her. 'I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man (or woman) that would no me...' This suggests that she has no one to turn to, no one willing to know her when she needs help. '...Refuge failed me...' Her family or the man she was trusting with her life have turned away and rejected her comfort and refuge. '...No man (or woman) cared for my soul.' The people around her don't care what happens to her. No one thinks her life is worth anything. We need to be there for those women. 'I looked on my right hand...' we need to be were we can be seen if someone is looking for help. '...There was no man that would know me...' We need to be willing to be looked down on because we helped someone no one else thought it worth the effort to help. '...Refuge failed me...' We need to be able to offer a refuge to those who have been rejected by their friends and family. '...No man cared for my soul.' We need to be there to tell others that we do care for their soul. This doesn't go for just women. There are men turned away from their loved ones as well that we can help. I focused on women today because they are more vulnerable and people are more likely to turn away from them.

We need to be available to ANYONE who need our help. People can help by being there to listen. We can help by being moral support, offering our time and home and telling them, in a gentle way, about someone who cares for them and will love them always.

Again, my thoughts have just poured out. At least it's not as long as last time, right?

It's snowing!!! It started snowing about seven this morning and it's not suppose to stop till four!!! We haven't been out to play in it as of yet but... the longer we wait the more snow there will be. Here are some pictures.

Many Hands make Light Work

So... we were having dinner. My brothers usually do cleanup after meals but tonight a couple of them were gone and the others had school to do so mom asked my twin sisters and I to do the kitchen. We had it done in about fifteen minutes and they did a lot of it. I started thinking, while we were working, about the usual conflict that happens when you have several boys in one room trying to work together. The conflict always makes ten minute jobs take 30 minutes and reduces the time for family fun. My sisters were working together cheerfully and without conflict. The job was done so much faster and we had time to do other things.

Searching For Wisdom

During our daily Wisdom Search I started thinking about a couple of the verses.

Psalm 16:4a says 'Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god...'

A lot of the sorrow in our country is most likely caused because we are chasing after "another god" of some sort. For us gals out there it could be clothes, makeup, money, a new job, boys or any number of other things. For guys it could be a new sports car, music, money, a job, girls and who knows what else. Most people have a tendency to place something before God and we wonder why we have so much sorrow and difficulties. We need to stop "hastening" after the things that don't really matter and RUNNING after God and the things that do matter.

Psalm 106:36-38a says '(36)And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. (37)Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,(38a)And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters...'

When it says that they "served their idols" it could mean things like we were talking about just now. All of the things in the lists above can be good if done or used at the right time but they can all be turned into idols and distractions or "snares" as the Bible says. "They sacrifice their sons and their daughters" who could do such a thing? But many many people do it. They may not literally kill them though some do. The parents that do have children and put them in school and daycare are sacrificing them too. The are sacrificing the right and honor of teaching them and watching them grow. They are offering them up to the state and telling the world that they don't care what their children learn. They expect their children to learn all this junk about there not being a God and that the world is millions of years old and then believe that there is a God who made the world in seven days. Then there are the people who "shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters". Those are the people, married and single, who decide that children are a problem or a barrier between them and their plans. Our country is falling apart. We have become murderers of little babies! Women who have been foolish, unwise, or just plain stupid are killing their babies for their own convenience. Why do some of the women in the army even join if they don't plan on going into combat (though they shouldn't go into combat period)? If they are going to go to all the trouble of joining then, when deployment time comes, become afraid, become pregnant until their squadron are gone, then get an abortion are murderers!!! They must not realize that they are intentionally killing a human being. Someone must teach them. Someone must go to them and tell them the terrible things they are doing. They are covering our country in "innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters" and turning not only their own hearts away from God but God's heart away from us as a nation. We may not be able to do much. Some of us are young, like me. But, though we may be young in heart, we can still pray. For us young people prayer is our strongest weapon. Help me to fight this cruel dead with prayer.

P.S. I'm sorry if I've been rambling. I just needed to get that down on paper or something. I usually don't write a whole lot at one time but my thoughts just started to flow today.
